Sperm freezing is considered as the most successful method of preserving Man’s fertility. Men can freeze their sperm for future use of treatment or to donate someone else’s treatment.
Donated sperm needs to be isolated for 3 to 6 months and tested for infections before being used by a recipient.
Semen freezing is the process where semen is collected and merged with an equal amount of cryoprotectant, a chemical to protect the sperm cells from damage and stored in Liquid nitrogen.
Treatment with Frozen sperm is equivalent to having treatment with fresh sperm. Its safe to use frozen sperms for treatment. No risks have been encountered so far to children or patients from using frozen sperm. Yet, all sperm may not survive the freezing or thawing process time.
Before preserving you need to do certain tests for infectious diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis.
